POPIA Act

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is South Africa’s data protection law established to regulate the lawful use of personal data of South African citizens. Your data privacy is our top priority and we will continue being committed to protecting your personal information and the information of all the related parties in our work with you. 

The purpose of the Act is:

  • to give effect to the constitutional right to privacy, by safeguarding personal information when processed by a responsible party.
  • to regulate the manner in which personal information may be processed, by establishing conditions, in harmony with international standards, that prescribe the minimum threshold requirements for the lawful processing of personal information.
  • to provide persons with rights and remedies to protect their personal information from processing that is not in accordance with this Act.
  • to establish voluntary and compulsory measures, including the establishment of an Information Regulator, to ensure respect for and to promote, enforce and fulfil the rights protected by this Act.

Phindile Mokoena joins the team

Please join us in welcoming Phindile Mokoena to the DrMzi family. Phindile holds a BA and BA Honors in Community Development from the University of Johannesburg. Phindile is from Soweto, outside of Johannesburg and has past work experience in marketing and research. Phindile joins DrMzi to support the team with administration and coordination of research and training. With her background in community development, Phindile is a valuable addition to the team and we warmly welcome her and look forward to contributing her growth and development.
